A consistent colour and tone is one of the quickest ways to make an Instagram feed or portfolio look professional. Lightroom presets help you get there without editing every photo from zero.
1. Pick a style, not twenty
Decide on the mood you want: bright and airy, warm and moody, clean and neutral, or something else. Choose two or three presets in that direction and ignore the rest for now. A large library is useful for testing, but a feed looks better with a limited look.
2. Test on different photos
A preset can look great on one photo and wrong on another. Try your shortlist on indoor, outdoor, bright and dark shots to see which one holds up.
3. Adjust after applying
Presets are a starting point. After applying one, fine-tune:
- Exposure: lift or lower brightness to suit the photo.
- White balance: correct any strong colour cast.
- Skin tones: make sure faces still look natural.
4. Batch edit and sync
Once you are happy with one photo, sync those settings to the rest of the set, then make small tweaks where needed. This keeps a whole shoot consistent and saves a lot of time.
5. Save your own version
Save the adjusted settings as your own preset so you can reuse your signature look on future shoots.
6. Plan the whole feed
Look at your last nine posts together. If one photo looks too different, adjust it so the grid feels like one family.
